Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program

Coastal Horizons offers an enhanced treatment service called Intensive Outpatient Program or IOP. IOP is an intensive outpatient program for people ages 18 years old and older with a primary substance use diagnosis. IOP is a 12 week program consisting of group therapy, individual therapy, family therapy and case management to link clients with community resources. IOP is offered every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for 3 hours each day. CHC offers morning and evening IOP programs to fit the needs of our client’s schedules, depending on location. New Hanover location also offers a Women’s only IOP group!
Contact your local CHC office to find out available IOP hours.

Topics addressed in IOP include relapse prevention planning, mental health issues, wellness, family roles, emotion regulation, and communication skills.

Transportation incentives are also provided for our IOP clients in order to assist them with getting to treatment. We also offer monthly pizza parties as well as additional incentives for weekly attendance.

We are dedicated to addressing any barriers you may have to treatment. Overall, IOP outcomes show that clients report that they have started attending more support meetings such as AA, NA, CR or SMART Recovery and report a decrease in substance use, and report an increased satisfaction with their recovery by the end of their IOP time.

If you would like more information on CHC’s IOP program, please contact the Regional IOP/SACOT Director at 910-343-0142 or complete our online referral form.
