Post Overdose Response Team
Have You or Someone You Know Experienced an Overdose? Wished You Could Help?
The Post Overdose Response Team (PORT) was launched in May 2024 in direct response to the growing overdose crisis in Pender County. Our mission is to reduce overdoses by working closely with hospitals, first responders, and community agencies to connect overdose survivors to the care they need—quickly and compassionately.
PORT is made up of Peer Support Specialists and Licensed Therapists dedicated to breaking down barriers to treatment. In 2024 alone, PORT received 60 referrals and successfully connected 50 individuals to treatment.
We also partner with the Pender County Jail to support incarcerated individuals by linking them to Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) and other recovery services while in custody.
Our team actively engages in community outreach to high-risk populations, offering vital resources such as Narcan distribution and training to help save lives and support recovery efforts.
